Position Summary
Manage the shop store’s inventory, maintain shipping/receiving status, and receipt/distribute material. Maintain various lists, databases and programs related to stock control and shipping/receiving. Frequent overtime and occasional travel may be required.
Duties & Responsibilities Material Handler reports directly to the Lead Material Handler for the performance of his/her responsibilities.
Perform as single point of contact between Planning, Programs and QA for matters related to preplanned material, shipping/receiving (e.g., status, inspection, material segregation and control, etc.), shop stores, etc. Segerate and inventory received materials for each preplanned job (segregate by Job Order number), shop stores or consumables. Maintain shipping and receiving area to process incoming and outgoing material. Maintain an active inventory of all shop store items and consumables. All inventory issues and returns will be entered into the inventory control system every business day. Track high and low inventory limits for all shop stores and consumables. Ensure material is placed on order when the low limit is achieved. Use first in - First Out (FIFO) when issuing shelf life items. A list of material requiring purges from inventory will be provided on a scrap/obsolete input sheet and provided to the Department Manager. Maintain an electronic medium log for the issue of materials to Personnel, with their initial/employee number and date/time of issue. Maintain security of all materials, supplies and company property under the custody and control of the Department Maintain the cleanliness and stowage of designated areas. Provide Process Improvement recommendations to the Supervisor.
Qualifications
High School/GED with Technical School Apprenticeship Diploma and additional administrative vocational courses, or High School Diploma/GED with training and experience in purchasing and/or stock control. Minimum four years working with or directing programs related to purchasing and/or stock control. Personal computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Effectively communicate with personnel in and outside the company.
