Job Description This position will provide technical support for faculty, staff and students in labs/classrooms and offices.
The academic computer lab manager will oversee and provide technology support by procuring and maintaining equipment, installing and updating software, and providing training. Support an environment conducive to learning and training of students, faculty, staff and meeting the college's mission and goals. Minimum Qualifications Demonstrated ability to work as part of a planning team to forecast needs for computer software and hardware acquisition, installation, and maintenance for the Chesapeake campus. Experience in troubleshooting and repairing computers, including the ability to set up, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot hardware and software for on-campus instructional computers and computer lab-classrooms to include LAN/WAN servers. Demonstrated ability to provide assistance to faculty, staff and students with computer-related issues on the campus. Ability to work with OIS and District A/V personnel as a liaison for the campus. Ability to provide assistance to maintain, upgrade, troubleshoot hardware and software for Multiple Projection Stations (MPS) in labs and classrooms. Ability to manage software licenses for a variety of software programs. Ability to survey excess equipment and ensure proper disposal when necessary. Demonstrated skill in the use of office management software and E-mail. Ability to work independently with little supervision. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with students, faculty, staff, and a diverse public. Ability to effectively schedule and supervise part time staff and work-study students. Ability to handle multiple demands, projects, and expectations in an effective manner Preferred Qualifications A+ certification and Security+ certification. Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and training that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and experience. Special Requirements HOURS: 7:30 AM ? 4:00 PM, to include some Saturdays.
