Norfolk, Va. – Wal-Mart will hire up to 95 associates to work at the new Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market slated to open late this fall in Norfolk, according to a release from Wal-Mart.
A temporary hiring center has opened at 5812 Poplar Hall Drive, Suite C. Applications will be accepted Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Interested applicants may also apply online at http://careers.walmart.com.
Through Wal-Mart’s Veterans Welcome Home Commitment, the company will offer a job to any qualified veteran who has been honorably discharged within the past 12 months. Interested veterans may find out more at http://walmartcareerswithamission.com.
According to store manager Lisa Romero the store will be hiring both full- and part-time associates. “We are excited to bring a new Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market to Norfolk and provide area residents with good jobs and career opportunities,” said Romero.
Wal-Mart provides a benefits program to eligible full- and part-time associates. For example, it provides a variety of affordable health and well-being benefits including health-care coverage with no lifetime maximum. Wal-Mart also offers eligible associates matching 401(k) contributions of up to 6 percent of pay, discounts on general merchandise, an Associate Stock Purchase Program and company-paid life insurance. Additionally, eligible associates receive a quarterly incentive based on store performance.
The majority of new associates will begin work in October to help prepare the store for its grand opening, officials say.

Job Description:

Hours: 3:00PM - 11:00PM Monday - Friday with overtime and weekend availabilty needed

JOB SUMMARY
Inventories and organizes supplies and equipment necessary for processing. Assists in the set-up and breakdown of processing rooms as needed, including preparation for transport. Provides circulating support for all processing rooms. Assists in the in-process documentation of tissue to include receipt, quarantine, and final disposition. Monitors and maintains specified equipment to include freezers, refrigerators, and incubators. This position requires a high level of teamwork and commitment. Attention
to detail and adherence to defined processes and procedures is mandatory.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Circulates for all processing rooms.
2. Prepares processing materials (antibiotics, culture plates, QC test samples) when applicable. Prepares samples for transport as needed.
3. Performs monitoring of temperatures of storage freezers, refrigerators and incubators as required.
4. Performs in-process documentation of tissues to include receipt, quarantine, and final disposition.
5. Orders and stocks processing supplies.
6. Performs environmental monitoring of operating rooms.
7. Cleans and inspects general areas and clean rooms as needed. Assists in removal and documentation of post-processing materials to include biohazardous waste.

EQUIPMENT/MACHINERY USED
• All: Surgical instrumentation, computer equipment, label machine, fax machine, centrifuge, heat
sealers, ultrasonic cleaners, wet-vac, copier, telephone.
• Musculoskeletal only: Oscillating saws, band saws, various table saws, planers. drill press, bone
grinders.
• Osteobiologics only: Bone grinders/tekmar.
• Cardiovascular only: LN2 freezers, cyropreservation units, cryoshippers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
All: Lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, sitting, carrying, standing, manual dexterity, reaching, visual acuity, typing, repetitive motion of wrist and shoulder.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
1. High school diploma or GED required.
2. Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office applications.
3. Must be quality oriented and have strong attention to detail. Must be able to adhere to defined policies and procedures.
4. Effective verbal and communication skills required and the ability to perform in a strong team environment.

Responsibilities:

Bookkeeper: Maintenance of accurate records of financial activities: Rental deposits, invoice payments, mortgage payments, monthly reports, bank reconciliations, yearly tenant operating expenses reconciliations for multiple properties, as well as management of the owners personal accounts. Manage the mid-year review of financial reports for tax estimates as well as the end of the year gathering of information for corporate and personal tax returns preparation by the accountants. Administrative: Answering the phone, creating documentation, correspondence, scanning and forwarding documents, office filing, and assisting the owner with tenant’s contractor services needs during any absence or unavailability.



Other duties as assigned: Including, but not limited to, occasionally accompanying owners parents with appointments and errands in the owners absence or unavailability.




Experience and Requirements:

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a bookkeeper with administrative duties. Full Charge Bookkeeper certification through the AIPB is a plus.

Minimum of 5 years QuickBooks proficiency. Certification a plus.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products; specifically Word, Excel and Outlook. Certification is a plus.

Must be able to document successful ability to manage a small business without daily supervision and direction.



This is an hourly, non-exempt position with hours ranging from 32-40 per week. Salary will be based on experience. Benefits package includes two weeks annual vacation, time off for major holidays, and a $125 monthly medical contribution.

Maintenance Mechanic - Norfolk Collegiate School

NORFOLK COLLEGIATE SCHOOL
MAINTENANCE MECHANIC
The Maintenance Mechanic for Norfolk Collegiate School is responsible for all maintenance and custodial requirements for the Tidewater Drive campus or the Granby Street campus as directed.
The Maintenance Mechanic reports directly to the Facility Manager and coordinates maintenance requirements with the Facility Manager.
The Maintenance Mechanic directly supervises the other members of the Maintenance Staff.
Specific areas of responsibility include:
Correcting all maintenance needs within the building and grounds. If work requires outside contractor services, notify the Facility Manager of that requirement. Supervise Maintenance Staff and check on their performance to ensure the building is clean and safe daily. Be available for security calls and be the first name on security response list. Keep security office and school notified of current home and cell phone numbers. Unlock and open building daily by 7:30am in the summer and 6:30 when school is in session. Support the preparation and event of functions held on both campuses and other locations as directed by Facility Manager. Other duties as assigned by Facility Manager.
Maintenance Work Examples (Not all inclusive): Maintain HVAC plant on daily operation. Inspect classroom, roof, and attic HVAC units as required. Maintain kitchen equipment as required. Repair/replace routine electrical requirements. Repair and/or replace plumbing fixtures as required. Fix plumbing fixture stop ups. Replace ceiling light bulbs as required. Maintain grounds. Maintain athletic facilities. Repair doors and walls as needed. Perform rough and finish carpentry as required Maintain and repair door hardware Paint the facility as needed. Includes moving all furniture, use of ladder as required, and lifting 5-gallon paint cans.
Deliver all parcels and packages to ordering departments. Assist in off loading deliveries as required.
School Support Functions (Not all inclusive): Tear down/set up cafeteria tables and chairs for events. Set up auditorium for assemblies as needed. Set up/tear down other facilities as needed for events. Support fair and auction with set up and tear down.

Job Overview:
With a role in the Macy's Cosmetics Department, you will have the opportunity to help others look their best every day. You'll make one-on-one connections with customers to learn their sense of beauty and style, develop your artistic side through customer consultation and make-up and product application, and attain a sense of accomplishment when your skills combine with your passion for beauty to reach personal and team sales goals. Previous cosmetics experience is nice to have, but is not required to begin a career in beauty at Macy's. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

•Assist customers in all aspects of service fulfillment by demonstrating proficient use of proprietary devices and applications; proactively create enhanced shopping experiences through the heightened use of tools, technology and collaboration

•Partner with Sales Manager and Counter Manager to identify business driving opportunities and stock needs

•Develop a repeat-business customer base in order to regularly communicate: upcoming events, new merchandise receipts and product replenishment to increase incremental sales

•Participate in pre-selling and sales driving events as well as processing of new receipts, damages, testers, and return to vendors (RTVs)

•Attend product training classes and seminars

•Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality

Qualifications:

Education /Experience

High school diploma or equivalent. Previous cosmetic or fragrance sales experience a plus

Communication Skills

Ability to read, write, and interpret labels including warnings and ingredient lists on products. Ability to effectively communicate with and present information to customers, vendors, buyers, peers, and all levels of management

Mathematical Skills

Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Able to use a calculator. Must be able to calculate percentages and ratios. Must be able to make change using American Monetary units.

Other Skills

Superior organizational and time management skills. Must be able to build relationships and influence others. Ability to set and achieve goals. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Must possess a strong sense of urgency and a thirst for knowledge. Must be able to lead by example.

Work Hours

Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and sales events,

based on department and store/company needs.
