 - Removes snow from walks, driveways, roads, or parking lots, using shovel and snow blower.

 - Assists in repairs of roads, walks, buildings and mechanical equipment.
Education: High School diploma/GED.
Skills: Six (6) months experience operating small mowing and/or landscape hand (power or mechanical) tools. Must be able to obtain and maintain credential/background check for facility access as required by contract. Must have the ability to communicate effectively. Must be able to learn the proper use and provide minor operator maintenance of some routine grounds maintenance equipment.

The City of Norfolk's Department of Finance is seeking to hire a part-time Accounting Technician.

The Accounting Technician maintains accounts payable, performs administrative duties, assists with inventory control, provides customer service and performs financial duties.


Essential Functions:
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Responsible for printing, sorting, mailing and distributing Accounts Payable checks from various accounts; analyzing and running various system reports to ensure accuracy before printing.
Transmit positive pay files to banking institution on all disbursements.
Prepares and reconciles each check processing Recap for the Treasurer's Office and staff members of the Finance Department.
Respond to customer service inquiries or concerns via Accounts Payable Telephone Hotline and FIN-Accounts Payable email group, to include all audit and FOIA requests.
Complete monthly check processing reports for all accounts.
Process payments from contracts created by various grants, the Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (NRHA) and Norfolk Public Schools.
Perform administrative duties such as ordering check stock, filing and adding check numbers to processed documents.
Performs other duties as needed.


Education/Experience:
Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with six months/one year of study or training past the high school equivalency. Junior college, vocational, business, technical or correspondence schools are likely sources. Certifications may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training.

Two years experience in bookkeeping or accounting required.
