HEAVY EQUIP OPERATOR (VA BEACH) operate all types of light duty and heavy duty vehicles and equipment including cranes, bulldozers, draglines, excavators, landfill compactor, etc.
-Operate various types of wreckers in a safe and legal manner and in compliance with safety regulations.
-Drive, load and manage low-boy trailers
-Provide efficient and professional pickup and delivery of vehicles associated with City fleet, loading and unloading vehicles safely and free of damage
-Service and make minor repairs and/or adjustments on all types of vehicles and equipment
-Assure good operating condition of wreckers and related equipment. Advise supervisor of any breakdowns and/or maintenance needs.
-Maintain a good flow of communication with all personnel.
-Respond to and follow proper procedures on accidents, injuries and loss or damage to any property.
-Ensure City policies and procedures and all state and federal laws are followed at all times.
-Able to respond after working hours to calls during the night
***This position is designated ALPHA I and individual will be required to work in emergency events and inclement weather.
