Job Description

Our security Department is seeking a part-time security officer to provide security for company employees and assets. This position requires providing assistance and guidance to our customers and employees, reinforcement of company policies and taking an active role in employee safety.
Hours: Various days and hours - minimum 24 hours/week to include day, afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays

Essential Functions:

• Providing access control into company buildings by checking employee and visitor’s ID’s, controlling unauthorized entry.
• Demonstrated ability to respond to security emergencies.
• Escort service to parking lots
• Able to respond, take charge and act on First Aid/AED emergencies.
• Conducting internal security and safety checks of company properties. This requires extensive walking and use of stairs
• Conducting external security and safety checks of company properties. This requires walking and exposure to the weather.
• Maintaining all log books and records as required
• Monitor all CCTV coverage, fire, smoke, and door alarms.
• Facilitate fire drills as needed.
• Maintain key control and records.
• May be required to work at different local Pilot Media properties.
• Ability to communicate to customers and employees in emergencies and non-emergency situations.
• Work well with the security team, departments and others.
• Provide excellent customer service.

Required Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

• Possess good listening, written, and oral communication skills.
• Computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Internet, and email.
• Selected applicants will supply a state criminal history background check and DMV check.
• Must be able to do rounds, both inside and outside of our buildings in all weather conditions.
• Selected applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record
• Must present a good professional appearance and presence.
• Current certification in the performance of First Aid/CPR and the ability to perform such functions

Required Experience

Education/Experience:

• High School diploma or GED required
• Security, Law Enforcement, or Military experience preferred.
• Have a current 18 hours certification from the DCJS.
