Administrative and Office Specialist III: Tidewater Community College

TITLE: Administrative and Office Specialist III (Administrative Assistant)
CAMPUS: Chesapeake

SUMMARY:
The Administrative and Office Specialist will function as support staff for the dean, faculty, other support staff, and students.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibilities include maintaining an engaging learning environment through professional and timely management of the division office and its business processes, offering congenial, quality customer service and administrative assistance to the dean, and freely sharing information with faculty, staff, students, and personnel from other campuses.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to interpret and apply college policies and procedures and division business processes. Skill in office management and customer service. Skill in supervision in an office environment. Skill in computer use: student information system; database, spreadsheet, and document software; email; file maintenance, electronic procurement system. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, multi-task, and prioritize division processes. Ability to act as first contact/representative of college with students and the public. Ability to prioritize and handle a variety of job responsibilities, meet reporting deadlines, and adapt to rapid changes in priorities. Ability to track budget status, purchase requests and travel requests. Ability to coordinate and input division schedules, maintain and update files and work with confidential material.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Administrative assistant experience (preferably with a high-volume, varied background. Associate Degree in Administrative Support Technology or equivalent combination of education and training that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and experience. Experience providing administrative support, preferably in educational setting. Certified Professional Secretary (CPS)/Certified Administrative Professional (CAP).

HOURS:
8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

SALARY:
Position is in Pay Band 3. Anticipated hiring range is between $24,479 and $45,000. Actual salary will be determined based on individual qualifications and experience with consideration for internal alignment factors. The college offers an excellent benefits package.
