Small Engine Mechanic (Newport News)
US Lawns LLC: Local, Newport News-based landscape company seeks a small engine and truck mechanic for part-time employment.
Qualified candidates will be proficient in repair and maintenance of small engines, tractors and vehicles. Our fleet consists of commercial trucks and landscape equipment such as string trimmers, backpack blowers, hedge trimmers, and augers, hydraulic mowers, aerators, side by side / ATVs, snow blowers and plows.
Duties include: Performing repairs and / or preventative maintenance on engines, motors and tools; Maintaining equipment, parts and supply inventory; anticipate needed equipment, parts and supplies and makes recommendations for replacement as part of the annual budget process; place and expedite orders; maintain shop; tools and equipment in clean and orderly fashion; function as a first responder in emergency situations; attend seminars and continuing education programs; Assists with snow and trash removal as assigned; performs metal fabrication and welding as needed to maintain equipment
• Must possess the knowledge and skills needed to arc weld, fabricate metal, and make small engine repairs
• Computer proficiency is a must with concentration in Excel, Word, Outlook and internet searches
• Applicants will need to possess a valid Virginia driver's license (with a clean driving record)
Salary Range: Hourly rate of compensation (i.e.., approx. $15 - $25 per hour) will be based on the applicant's experience and knowledge.
