Administrative Assistant II - Norfolk, VA

The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to the following:

Conducts research and develops related correspondence, processes and maintains records, collects data, composes correspondence, prepares reports, schedules appointments, processes and distributes mail, and coordinates travel arrangements.
Attend meetings, take minutes, monitor appointments and schedule meetings.
Serve as a liaison between the Board of Trustees and personnel in the absence of the Executive Manager.
Responsible for relaying information to City employees and the public.
Monitors inventory, purchases and supplies and coordinates the sending of data for publication.
Maintains personnel records and assists management by with advertisements for open positions, participates in the interview process, processes new employees and inputs and maintains employee leave records.
Researches and resolves issues, assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures and participates in the development of training programs.
Processes paperwork, maintains personnel files, and attends meetings and training sessions regarding benefits administration.
Keeps abreast of proper policies and procedures and provides benefit information to employees.
Performs and/or schedules the duties of absent staff as needed and coordinates schedules.


Education/Experience:

Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with six months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency. Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training. Requires two years of experience in office administration.

Additional Information & Requirements:
Must have a valid driver's license. Must have favorable background check results and pass drug screenings.
