VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT INTERN

Duties and Responsibilities
Summary: The Volunteer Recruitment Intern will assist in the recruitment and training of volunteers for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Tidewater affiliate in its service area. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Work directly with the Volunteer Coordinator to assist in recruitment, training, placement, retention and recognition of Komen volunteers. Work directly with the Volunteer Coordinator to secure key volunteers for events, specifically Race for the Cure. Recruit, assign and work with volunteers for the Race for the Cure (including EXPO and Race day). Contact community groups and work with them on volunteering for our organization. Communicate directly with volunteers to set up time shifts and schedules for events. Conduct, or assist with, a Komen 101. Assist the Volunteer Coordinator with setting up Komen 102 programs. Research, develop and implement a plan to reach and engage those service areas not in our direct line, such as Eastern Shore, Williamsburg, Western Tidewater, etc. Assist the Volunteer Committee with implementation of a Recognition/ Awards Program.

Work Hours: Interns will work based on availability. Occasional weekend, early morning or evening hours availability depend upon our event schedule.

Candidate Requirements
Summary of Qualifications Requirements: Strong organizational skills. Good communication skills, written and verbal. Computer literate (Microsoft Office). Comfortable working with a diverse population. Special event and leadership experience preferred.
Desired Education: High School Diploma
